Lisa is the founder of Sun Stone Counseling, PLLC.

In her therapy practice, Lisa works to build a dynamic, trusting, non-judgmental connection with her clients. She strives to understand their perspective, and to help identify and utilize their personal strengths to achieve the change they seek.

Lisa believes we all contain the wisdom and resilience to shift towards our better selves and improve our lives. However we tend to lose access to these resources when we become entangled in difficulties and are overtaken by uncertainties and emotions. Lisa strives to assist her clients as they regain clarity and self-acceptance. She supports them as they draw on their personal resources to navigate the complications and capture the opportunities in their lives.

Lisa has an extensive academic and professional background in the natural sciences, particularly geology. This firm anchoring to the natural world helps to guide her client-centered, compassionate, realistic approach that is influenced by multiple theoretical orientations. These include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention. She often draws on somatic tools as a component of the therapeutic work. She works with issues of trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, anger and OCD. In early June she will add EMDR to her treatment offerings.
